Import

Importing to the UK post-Brexit: 6.5 % import duty + 20 % VAT on the vehicle value + freight. Historic vehicles over 40 years old are VAT-exempt on import. LHD vehicles are fully legal in the UK with no conversion required. Vehicles under 40 years need an IVA test; over 40 years they qualify as Historic Vehicle and are exempt. Port of entry: Tilbury, Southampton or Grimsby. We handle customs clearance, NOVA registration, MOT and DVLA V5C.

Yes, LHD vehicles are completely legal in the UK with no steering conversion required.

Vehicles over 40 years old qualify as Historic Vehicles and are exempt from IVA. Models from 1985 onwards require an IVA test.

NOVA (Notification of Vehicle Arrivals) must be submitted to HMRC before the car can be registered with DVLA. We handle this as part of our import service.

Typically 6–10 weeks: 3–4 weeks sea freight from East Coast USA + 2–4 weeks customs, NOVA, IVA/MOT and DVLA registration.
